The Mandala Project
The Heart Mandala, a public art piece commissioned by the City of Belleview, is an interactive and philanthropic installation at Bellview Station Brewery in Denver. Part of the Mandala Project, this standing steel sculpture invites community members to purchase epoxy hearts and install them into precision-fitted slots within the mandala. Together, the community weaves a vibrant tapestry that supports The Denver Children’s Home.

Process Details
The piece was an 8’ by 8’ steel wall featuring a mandala of hearts cut out. We developed ways to make each heart accessible for public installation, allowing people to install their own hearts as they purchased different sizes of hearts for the Denver Children’s Home.
There were 450 hearts created out of custom molds using urethane rubber and 3D-printed units. These molds were utilized repeatedly to cast color-tinted clear epoxy, resulting in about 900 individual fronts and back pieces for the purple, red, and blue hearts.
